Puppy Classes

1) The full fee of £95 must be paid in advance of joining the course by cash or cheque. On receipt of payment clients will be sent a registration pack. The details form should be returned as soon as possible so that we can be sure to cover any specific issues
you may have with your puppy.

2) Whilst we cannot insist that your puppy is vaccinated, we would strongly recommend vaccinating your puppy. That said, more dogs are euthanased as a result of behaviour problems than infectious diseases, so the small risk is significantly out weighed by the
benefit of understanding how to train your puppy successfully.

3) Only puppies under 18 weeks of age at the start date of the course booked will be accepted.

4) Occasionally a class is not a suitable environment for a puppy to learn, we will advise you as soon as this becomes apparent, and will make alternative arrangements to assist you (usually arranging an individual appointment to discuss the issue in detail and to help you address the problem).

Behaviour Counselling and Therapy

6) Initial appointments last approximately 2 hours. The cost includes a questionnaire for the owner to complete in advance of the appointment, information sheets, feedback to the owner’s vet and six months telephone contact following the appointment. The fee is £110 payable by cash or cheque at the time of the appointment.

7) Follow up appointments regarding the problem, where necessary, are charged at £45 per hour.

8) A letter confirming the time, date and place of the appointment will be sent on receipt of a completed veterinary referral form, questionnaire and deposit of £30 from the owner.

9) In some circumstances it may be beneficial to see a pet in its normal environment (home, usual walk etc) rather than in the consulting room. This can be arranged, but incurs an additional fee for travel of 40p per mile due to be paid at the time of the visit by cash or cheque.

10) Every effort will be made to arrange an appointment within two weeks of a client contacting Gelert Behaviour Training, this will largely depend on how flexible clients can be with regard to the time of the visit. Appointments and visits are normally made on weekdays during office hours. Evening or weekend appointments and visits are sometimes possible in exceptional circumstances but these will be charged at £130 plus 40p per mile travelled.

11) Cancellations giving less than one week’s notice will be subject to the full fee to prevent appointments being wasted.

Other Classes

1) Puppies who have successfully completed the Kennel Club Puppy Foundation assessment may join a Junior class or a Bronze Award course. The fee of £75 is payable in advance of joining the course by cash or cheque. On receipt of payment clients will be sent a registration pack. The details form should be returned as soon as possible so that we are aware of what you hope to achieve with your dog and can help you to work towards this.

2) Dogs older than 18 weeks can join the Junior course. The fee of £75 is payable in advance of joining the course by cash or cheque. On receipt of payment clients will be sent a registration pack. The details form should be returned as soon as possible so that we are aware of what you hope to achieve with your dog and can help you to work towards this. You can then go on to further courses to achieve the Kennel Club Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards if you wish.

3) Occasionally a class is not a suitable environment for a dog to learn, we will advise you of this as soon as this becomes apparent. We will make alternative arrangements to assist you (usually arranging a home visit to discuss the issue in detail and to help you address the problem).

Dog Walking

1) This service is offered to those lacking the time to give their dog sufficient exercise (a frequent cause of many behaviour problems is lack of exercise!), or as part of a weight loss programme (with your vet’s agreement).

2) It is possible to book regular or occasional walks for your dog. Dogs are walked with a maximum of two others, and are walked on the lead unless specific permission is given to allow them off lead and I am confident that the dog has a reliable recall.

3) The cost is £13 per hour for occasional walks and £11 per hour for regular walks.

4) Fees are payable in advance of the service, and cancellation of less than one week’s notice will be charged in full.

5) Full insurance cover is held.

Dog Holidays

1) Your dog stays in my home, with regular walks, games etc. Only dogs from one family at a time are taken, and a maximum of two at a time.

2) Dogs are walked at least twice a day and where appropriate spend most of their holiday walking or playing with my dogs in my fields (provided they are reliable around horses and livestock!)

3) The cost is £22 per dog per 24 hours or part thereof, with a second dog from the same family charged at £12. Bank holidays are charged at £27 per day.

4) A non-returnable deposit of 50% is required to secure a booking, and full payment is required when your dog arrives.

5) Full insurance cover is held.

Cats/Rabbits/Guinea pigs/Birds/Hamsters/Gerbils etc

1) Your pet is visited in your home, a minimum of once a day but more frequently by arrangement

2) Hutches/cages/litter trays are cleaned and bedding/litter replenished

3) Food bowls are cleaned and fresh food provided

4) Individual requests for additional tasks can be considered
